Boys Basketball Keeps on Rolling
The Saxons are ranked 6 in the OSAA rankings due to their 14-2 record [14 wins and two losses]. South just came off a win against North Salem 75-35. Over the next few weeks, South will be home against McKay and McNary. Then, they will be on the road for three games straight against Sprague and Forrest Grove. The Saxons will finish their season at McMinnville, and following that game, they will be home against West Albany.
Their past games against McNary and Mcminnville have been wins of 15 points or more. At this point in the season, the biggest lead they have had was a 73-40 win against Forest Grove. In the fourth quarter a pair of threes were knocked down by Elijah Schwartz ‘16 and Damian Moe ‘16. The players are gaining momentum to use for the next few weeks.
“We’re a playoff team that is on the rise,” Mikhail Benjamin ‘18 said.
“I know the team has the heart and work ethic,” coach Allen said.
The Saxons hope to keep that momentum as they play West Salem, McKay, McNary, and Sprague in the upcoming weeks. West Salem is ranked #34 by the Oregon School Activities Association [OSAA], while McKay is ranked #44. As for McNary and Sprague, OSAA has them ranked at #10 and #34. The Saxons have averaged a total of 66 points a game and have only allowed 52 a game. When comparing their point average to West’s, South outscores them 65 to 62. Compared to McKay and McNary, South also outscores them 66 to 64 and 66 to 65 respectively.
