South Choir Soon Heading to South Francisco
This spring, the Symphonic and Chamber Women’s choirs will be traveling to San Francisco from April 15 to April 19. They will be staying at the Santa Clara Marriott along with several performing groups from around the country.
While in San Francisco, the choirs will have several performances during their four day stay. As a part of the Festival of Gold, there will be numerous performances at the Davies Symphony hall. All of the concerts will be recorded and available.
“I’m really excited to sing at the Davies Symphony Hall,” Kiersten Lemire ‘17, a singer in Symphonic choir said. “I’ve been looking up pictures and it’s really huge and really pretty.”
If given approval, they will also stop to sing at the San Francisco City Hall Rotunda.
Intensive clinics are also available for each choir, headed by one of the top choir professionals in the field. For those in Honor Choir, there may also be an opportunity for select students to participate in an hour long choir session headed by another choral music professional.
Besides the performances, the students on the trip will also be experiencing the sights of Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and Park, Fisherman’s Square, Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, Union Street, San Francisco City Center, and Lombard Street, among other places.
“Exploring the city with your friends and family, about 100 kids from school, most of them you actually like, will be a great experience,” Lemire said.
