Spring Sports Update

Saxons sports have been on a roll and are continuing to do so into the postseason. The Saxons are having many teams qualified for Districts and even State. The Saxons are looking to go deep in the playoffs and win a State Championship.
The Saxon Baseball team have a record of 19-4 and are currently ranked 6 in the State. Their next game is against the McMinnville Grizzlies who are currently ranked 37 in the state. Not only are they ranked 6 in state, they are also ranked 2 in the Greater Valley Conference. This will be their final series before the start of playoffs.
The Saxon Softball team is currently 7-16 with a league record of 4-10. They are currently ranked 35 in State and 7 in the Greater Valley Conference. The Saxons only have two Seniors, Athena Fox ‘18 and Maygen Mcgrath ‘18 who have been leaders of this young team. Their final two matchups are against the North Salem Vikings and the Forest Grove Vikings to finish up the regular season.
The Track and Field Team has already finished the final meet of the season before playoffs and are ready to show out before the State Track Meet. The District Track Meet  is next Friday, May 18-19 at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
The Saxon Golf Team is sending one very talented golfer to state, Ashley Zhu ’18. This is Ashley’s 4th State Tournament, placing 5 last year. Ashley has had a very successful season and is expected to do very well in the state tournament. Ashley will be playing in the tournament May 14-15 at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis. Although there were no State qualifiers for the boys team, they finished out the season with one District qualifier in Jackson Clark ’18.
The Saxon Tennis teams have finished their final meet but now it is time for Districts where South is wanting to make a splash into playoffs with many singles and doubles teams playing for both boys and girls. Districts are Thursday, May 10 and 11 at Linfield College and May 12 at Salem Tennis and Swim Club.
