Spring Break In Salem
Just like any other break from school, during spring break students either want to relax, or go out and explore new places. Many of them do not have the opportunity to travel somewhere, but still have the desire to do fun activities and explore new things in Salem. When gathering with friends or family, they do not tend to come up with something new to do, or they are just bored of doing the same things. Here are some ideas to do during spring break for anyone suffering from these problems.
“My ideal spring break would be going shopping downtown or on walks in the park at downtown,” Bianca Alvarez ‘16 said.
Going to the Salem Center or Lancaster Mall is what seems to be the typical place where teenagers go during their free time, but a twist would be to explore downtown by going to the local shops, trying new foods, or just walking around.
Many people like to go down memory lane, and to places where they went as little kids with their families or on school trips. Salem’s Riverfront Carousel, the Enchanted Forest Theme Park, and the Gilbert House Children’s Museum are some of the most common childhood places. Salem’s Riverfront Carousel is known for their carousel rides, but they also have a gift shop and food services. The Enchanted Forest Theme Park has a variety of rides and attractions such as bumper cars, roller coasters, a ferris wheel, a haunted house, fountains, storybook lane, the old European Village, and Tofteville Western Town. Gilbert House Children’s Museum is a museum that is composed of the Gilbert House, Parrish House, and the Rockenfield house, with each house containing their own section of activities. For example the Gilbert House has a creation station, and a few rooms with assorted activities inside.
“On spring, if I am not at home, I usually just go out shopping around Salem,” Rubi Rios ‘16 said.
A big number of the population in Salem during spring break like to go to the beach. A few of the popular beaches around Oregon are Seaside, Lincoln City, Newport, and Pacific City.
Whether people travel somewhere or stay in Salem, there is always an activity or place to go to.
