South Salem junior Ellie Slama won the 6A state golf title yesterday at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks. Slama shot an opening day score of 69 and followed that up with a 75 on day two. Ellie won the tournament by three strokes and became the first South Salem state champion in 30 years.
The Saxon Lady golf team continued their impressive showing at the OSAA State Golf Tournament the past two days at Quail Valley Golf Course. Mak Gentry, Sammie Belden and Maddie Peterson all played well to power the team to an 8th place finish. This is the highest finish for the program since the mid 80’s. Ashley Zhu played well both days and finished 7th in the state.
