03-04 Kindergarten
Napoleon Dynamite
“The jokes were funny and simple. And, just the actions and what they did was funny. The characters were funky looking too and that just made it all the more funny. Jon Heder, the legend came to South Salem High School and it just proves that we’re better than everyone else,” Vincent Villarreal ‘16 said.
04-05 First Grade
Batman begins
“Christian Bale is a very good Batman, and it’s very dark unlike other Batman movies I’ve seen,” Timothy Lundin ‘16 said.
05-06 Second Grade
Nacho Libre
“Nacho Libre was a very heartwarming story about an orphan who gave back to his orphanage while kicking a$$ and taking names. He did what he believed was the right thing and kicked a$$. 2K16,” Andrew Bennett ‘16 said.
06-07 Third Grade
High School Musical
“High School Musical was like the best movie. I always thought Sharpay was better than Gabriella. It was really obvious that Sharpay deserved the main role in the school musical over Gabriella because Gabriella did not have the right type of voice to sing in musical. Her voice was too melodic. But, Sharpay worked so hard. She was the way she was because of how hard she worked and her determination. And all the events of the film were so unfair to her. I know she’s supposed to be antagonist, but she deserved that role,” Maia Hogan ‘16 said.

07-08 Fourth Grade
National Treasure Books of Secrets
“It’s always been a classic of Nicolas Cage who used to be one of my favorite actors when I was younger. He was the perfect guy for that movie,” Kyle McCulloch ‘16 said.
08-09 Fifth Grade
Wall-E
“Wall-E is a good movie because it has the most sentimental meaning of all Disney movies ever made, and it has the most actual meaning in general. There’s so many different symbols and stuff like that about the world and saving it and whatnot. It’s more complex than a lot of people view it as,” Cole Thoreby ‘16 said.

09-10 Sixth Grade
500 days of summer
“It’s really so sweet. I feel like it’s one of those movies that’s really cheesy and cliché, but it’s really not. Which makes it really nice and I can watch it a million times,” Benedikte Pedersen said ‘16.
10-11 Seventh Grade
Tangled
“I thought it had a really encouraging story. It really gave a sense of magic and coming out of your comfort zone,” Krystal Peters ‘16 said.
11-12 Eighth Grade
Harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2
“I actually saw it at the midnight showing. The only thing that bothered me was that in the book Harry uses the Elder Wand to fix his own wand since he broke it. But, in the movie instead of doing that he takes the Elder Wand and snaps it in half and just throws it, and that upset me because Harry’s supposed to get his wand back,” Kendall Clawson ‘16 said.
12-13 Freshmen Year
The Avengers
“I liked it because there’s so much action, fighting, and character development. Oh my gosh, the part where Iron Man, and the missile, and he’s up in the air… I was just like dying,” Taylor Null ‘16 said.
13-14 Sophomore Year
Wolf of Wall Street
“Leonardo Dicaprio, he played Jordan Belfort. I thought he played it really well. It was an all around good movie with the whole penny stock thing, and him breaking the system was just cool. It was a long movie which I liked as well. The whole drug addiction and the comedy that came out of that was great. And the amount of money he made really gets people thinking,” Derek White ‘16 said.

14-15 Junior Year
Guardians of the Galaxy
“Anti heroes saving the galaxy for their own reasons. They come together out of simple coincidence to do good,” Gauge Hartwell ‘16 said.
15-16 Senior Year
The Force Awakens
“I didn’t like when Han Solo was killed by his own son. That was kind of a little messed up. It made me a little angry. I didn’t want him to die. After all these years they made a new movie and it had all the original characters. You got to see how cool they were older, but then they just killed one of them off and I was like no. He’s all old now and he looked so cool, and then they just take him away,” Shakueina Boyd ‘16 said.

Civil War
“What I liked about Civil War was that it took a controversial turn on whole idea of people trying to be civil with the enemy. So, instead of forcing laws the way of way of fighting with weaponry like how Nick Furry had in mind. Captain America started to fight back and realized they have lives as well. I kind of thought about that and realized it’s a really smart idea. Bucky was kind of a converseral character because he was in the middle ground. He was a good guy being brainwashed. At the same time when he wanted to do good he ended up being brainwashed over and over so he’d forget. Until eventually he had joined with Captain America,” Sam Keck ‘16 said.
BETTER ONE:
“The movie was breathtaking. There was so many different events happening at once so I was kept on the edge of my seat the entire time. The plot twists also really helped with the suspense factor. Overall, one of the best movies I’ve ever seen,” Tricia Lin ‘16 said.
