Volleyball Loses First Round of Playoffs

This past season of Saxon volleyball ended with the team placing third in the Greater Valley Conference [GVC], and them losing in the first round to Roseburg. They lost five seniors, but they will gain several players. This upcoming season’s team is young. Next season, there will only be one senior: Rylie Tiffin ‘17.
“We’re going to be a young team, but a good team,” Rylie Tiffin ‘17 said.
The team was made of up many sophomores, who have continued improving in the offseason due to participating in club volleyball teams. Players such as Kellie McSween ’18, Chloe Elmore ‘18, and Emma Howell ‘18 all participate on the same team for club, while Selbie Christensen ‘18 plays for a different team. The team is getting ready for this upcoming season by holding open gyms, participating on other teams, and they were coaching the boys to play for the boys junior vs senior game. “That was the funniest thing I’ve ever done, watching the boys play was a lot of fun and it was really cool to show them all that what I do is really a sport and that it’s not as easy as it looks.” Tiffin said.
“I’m really excited for next season, we’re going to be a really young team. We’ll have at least six juniors, but that’s okay because they’re all really good and they’ve been training a lot. I think offensively we’ll be really good, it’s just a matter of stringing our defense together which I think we should be pretty good at,” Rylie Tiffin ‘17 said. “A major goal for this upcoming season is to place first in the greater valley conference and to make it past the first round of playoffs. As a personal goal I really want to step up as a leader and be a good leader to everyone not just a few.”
