With the completion of their last two finals, all South Salem students have finished up the 2015-2016 school year today. School will start again next year on Sept. 7, with Saxon Start-Up Day on August 17 and the first day for incoming freshman on Sept. 6.
This past year successes for the Saxons have been first place in the Willamette Valley League for girls lacrosse, an undefeated season for the varsity football team, first place for the girls swim and golf teams at districts, and a State championship win for the girls basketball team. South’s Symphonic choir also won first at State.
Several sports will have practices over the summer, including cross country, football, soccer and volleyball. Next year band camp will be held from Monday August 8 to Saturday August 13; a choir camp will be held as well, but dates have yet to be posted. DECA leadership camp will be held on August 25 and August 26.
The first football game of 2016 will be home on Sept. 2 against Sprague, and the first volleyball match will be an away game on Sept. 1 against West Albany. Soccer, cross country, band, choir and orchestra have yet to post the dates for their first games or concerts.
