South Salem’s varsity football team traveled to South Medford on Friday night only to face a disappointing loss, with a final score of 10-52. South’s defense experienced a breakdown in fundamentals on the field, allowing Medford’s offense to score some easy touchdowns. Their offense was extremely productive, especially considering South’s defensive struggles. Then, their situation became more difficult when two of the leading defensive players,
Collin Vogt ‘18 and Tyler Coates ‘17 experienced injuries that put them out of the game.
Next week South will play their homecoming game against the McMinnville Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are ranked 21 in the OSAA state rankings for football as of September 23, while South is placed at 7. Be sure to come support your Saxons at the game on September 30 on Bennett field, kickoff at 7:00pm!
