South Salem’s 2016-2017 Cross Country team is doing well this season.
“We have a really good team, a big group of freshman. They are new us, but not new to running,” Murdoch said, a coach on the Cross Country team. “Right now, our guys are fighting for the 3rd spot to state. It would be awesome to get that spot.”
Scott Ludford ‘18 is a familiar face around South as an IB student and a member of the drumline for the band. “I have been in Cross Country since I was in 7th grade,” Ludford ‘18 said . “My favorite part of Cross Country is being able to hang out with the team and get to train with all of them.”
“Last year, a lot of the kids were there for running and having fun, but this year, the kids seem to have more of a passion for it,” Murdoch said.
“So far, my favorite meet was our Saxon invitational, because we got to teach the freshman to ‘hit the bush.’”, Murdoch said when asked about highlights of this Season so far.
The team’s next meet is Oct 5th, at Bush Park @4:00pm against McNary high school and North Salem high school.
