New Rock Climbing Gym

Salem’s first rock climbing gym, The Rock Boxx’s opens on Oct. 1, according to the website, “The Rock Boxx is an indoor bouldering gym that will be opening in 2016 here in Salem Oregon! We will provide professionally built climbing walls that will accommodate all skill levels and provide a fun environment for everyone to improve their fitness, climbing skills, and conditioning.”
This will be Salem’s first rock climbing gym. The gym will be located near the airport in south east Salem. With 9,000 square feet of climbing gym, it will likely be a popular place to hang out, have fun, and get fit.
The facility contains various routes ranging in levels of difficulty. The Rock Boxx will be open to people of all skills; ranging from beginners who want to learn and have fun to more experienced climbers who want to train and improve their skills.
Blake Scott ‘18 is one student who is excited for the new business, “It’s really great that we’re finally getting a gym where I can take my training seriously and hang out with friends.”
