Last week, the boys and girls Varsity Swimming Team had districts. The boys placed 2nd place at the conference championship, with help from a great performance from Daisuke Fitial ‘17, who won both of his events in the 200IM and the 100 backstroke. He broke the school record in the prelims, and then went on to he break his own personal records. Tyler Cook ‘18, won the 100 freestyle. The boys 200 Medley relay team is made up of four swimmers: Paul Lomax ‘17, Christian Richey ‘18, Fitial, and Cook. As a team, they took first in the relay race. All the swimmers listed above were state-qualifiers. Overall, the boys team as a whole took second in districts.
The girls swim team took third. Anna Despain ‘18, Joanna Zuckerman ‘17, Jamie Zuckerman ‘17, and Victoria Privalova ‘19 beat the school record for the 400 free relay. Meanwhile, Despain set a new school record in the 100 freestyle. All four girls qualified for state in both the 200 Medley relay and the 400 free relay, while Despain also qualified for the 100 backstroke.
