Jillian and Loryn Studer ‘17, the twins that are now leading the women’s tennis team, are back to compete for the Greater Valley Conference title after finishing 2nd in the GVC as juniors. The twins were the only Saxon players that played in state last year, making it to the second round, and are hoping to compete for a state title this year.
“Lots of the double teams that played last year graduated within the district so we have lots more opportunities this year,” Jillian said.
The twins have both played tennis for South Salem since freshman year, but they decided to play doubles just last year. Both of them are excited for senior year, and excited to represent South as leaders for their final season playing together.
“My plans for the season is to enjoy my last season ever with my sister. I want to play as hard as I can but most importantly, have fun with my team,” Loryn said.
Last year, the twins made it to the state tournament for the first time as double partners where they made it to the second round. They plan to get farther in the state tournament because of more opportunities and hopefully win the state championship in their final season as Saxons.
