With high school golf season fastly approaching, some key players to look out for on South Salem’s girls varsity team are Ellie Slama ‘17, Ashley Zhu ‘18, Makenah Gentry ‘17, and Chantel Gallick ‘17.
Slama signed with Oregon State University to play golf back in November. Last year, she won the 2016 OSAA girls state championship. Overall, Slama has had many impressive seasons with the Saxons, and she is a star player to be watched.
Some of the key boys’ golf players are Payton Goltiao ‘17, Austin Goltiao ‘17, Taylor Dejode ‘17, and Jackson Clark ‘18.
“Eriksen has high expectations for us this upcoming season,” Austin said.
The team has high aspirations for their performance this season.
“Some expectations for this season are to make it to regionals, finish each tournament in first or second, and to just have an all around solid team,” Payton said.
The first tournament of the 2017 season for the Saxon golf team was on Mar. 13, with the girls varsity team took first place and the boys team placed third.
