Following in the footsteps of Nick McWilliams, Adrian Lewis will be taking over the coaching position for South’s girls basketball team.
“South Salem, we’ve been a dominant program the last four years,” McWilliams said in a StatesmanJournal article. “We have a fourth, a third and two firsts. That’s like Oregon City territory, Southridge. I don’t know what else you could say.”
For the past five years, Lewis has been the head coach for the JV football team and the head JV basketball coach. Overall, he has been coaching basketball for the past six years, dedicating time at South and with the Grind Time Hoops and Oregon Swish. He has also coached basketball camps in Portland, Seattle, and Denver in partnership with the Women’s National Basketball Association [WNBA].
Lewis originally grew up in Turlock, CA, graduating from Pitman High in 2006. While there, he played basketball himself, along with football and baseball. He continued to play football and basketball at Willamette University while he earned a degree in Mathematics. Using that degree, Lewis has been teaching math at South since 2016.
Outside of the basketball program at South, Lewis likes to workout, participate in 3 on 3 basketball tournaments, and travel. He and his wife, Kaileigh, just recently got married. Together, the two of them have a cat named Bella.
