One of Salem’s many theaters, Capitol City Theater [CCT] offers many resources to students interested in theater and improvisation workshops and shows.
The theater is a comedy club that focuses on improvisation and stand up comedy. CCT also offers training opportunities to local talent.
Capitol City Theater offers Improv workshops and classes every monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at a cost of 10 dollars that should be payed at the bar. In the past, the theater has also offered longer workshops and continues to provide shows which are put on by their Improv Team every first and third Wednesday.
“I’ve never actually seen a show there, or been in a show there, but I know people who have been a part of their troop, including Mrs. Gibbons [South drama teacher], who was part of their troop a while ago, as well as multiple South alumni who work at Capital City,” Max Morter ‘17 said.
The theater’s seasoned improv teachers offer two hour workshops that teach performers, both new and old, how to act without a script or props.
CCT also serves as a venue that seats six to sixty, as well as the opportunities to reserve an Improv show at either their theater or a specified location.
