The 2017 Saxon Soccer season has officially kicked off and both the Boys and Girls are looking to have even better success than last season’s amazing seasons. Both the Boys and Girls competed to be in the OSAA State Playoffs, The Girls lost in the play-in game against Tigard and the Boys lost in the second round, beating Madison and losing to Central Catholic.
“We are playing against several strong sides in our non-league schedule and several more strong sides during our league schedule.” said Boy’s Head Coach Eric Johansen. “We expect to compete with every team this year and challenge for the conference championship and advance to the state playoffs and advance in the state playoffs.”
Last year, there were a total of 19 seniors for both the Boys and Girls teams. Although, those valuable players graduated, there is a bright future for both teams with underclassmen rising up the ranks as well as this year’s Seniors leading the way as well as a new head coach for the girls team in Tillerman Kroon.
“From what I have seen, I believe we will have a strong season. Although we had quite a few seniors graduate, we are gonna have a strong young team,” Jade Venegas ‘18 said.
