The winter season is a time for giving, whether it is providing clothes or giving a meal to a family less fortunate. There are many opportunities locally in Salem to help out the community and they are looking for help this holiday season.
South Salem is doing multiple things for the community. Leadership student are participating in bell ringing over the break for the Salvation Army as well as several individual projects by the students during the holiday season.
“The project is called the Holiday Helpers and we donate items such as hats, gloves, and blankets to the homeless” said McKenzie Stones ‘18, the organizer of this project.
Another local way to help this holiday season is with the 1000 Soles project where you can help clean the shoes that they send to kids in need. The two opportunities are Dec. 18 and 19 at the Ike Box Café.
This holiday season, there are many ways to help out the community locally in Salem like with the helping by donating to the Holiday Helpers to volunteering to help with the 1000 Soles project.
