Today, some talented South Salem swimmers were good enough to be able to compete in the OSAA State Swim Meet. The team’s overall good season prepared them to able to be a tough competitor in the OSAA state meet.
The Girls 200 yard freestyle relay placed 3rd and 8th in 400 yard freestyle relay. Anna Despain ‘18, one the most talented swimmers to ever come to South Salem High School, placed 5th in 200 yard freestyle and placed 6th in 100 yard backstroke and Victoria Privalova ‘19 placed 17th in the girls 50 yard freestyle.
The South Salem Boys placed 13th in the boys 200 yard medley relay, 18th in the 200 yard freestyle relay and 13th in Boys 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. Julian Melton ‘21 placed 18th in the boys 200 yard IM. Tyler Cook ‘18 placed 13th in the Boys 50 yard freestyle and placed 13th in the 100 yard freestyle. Christian Richey ‘18 also placing 13th in the Boys 100 Yard Backstroke.
Though, no one placed first or second in state all the swimmers represented South Salem very well and make the school very proud. Hopefully the Saxons will be able to repeat this success in the coming years.
