The South Salem’s baseball team is officially off to a start for the 2018 season.South’s Baseball team begins their season on March 3 facing off against Sheldon. following their 2016 campaign with a record of 14-11 [14 games won and 11 games lost]. The Saxons were also ranked 13 in the State at the end of last season with a young team with only three seniors. The Saxons have some returning players such as Sean Alvarado ‘19, Ryan Brown ‘19, and recent University of Oregon commit Aaron Zavala ‘18.
“Although I am new to this program, I feel like we are a big family and we all connect,“ Nick Raska ‘18 said.
The baseball program at South Salem has made it clear they are attempting to make the team feel more like a family and less like a team in the 2018 campaign and it has been made clear that the team is a family and is working to be successful.
“The team is more connected and the players spent a lot of time together over the offseason and having our Spring Break trip to Boise, ID coming up will bring the guys together even more,” said head coach Max Price.
With the strong family-like connection The Saxon’s plan to build off the success of last season and do even better. With the returning veterans and young talent the Saxons have the Potential to make a very competitive run for the State championship.
