The South Salem girls golf team will host the final Greater Valley Conference golf tournament at Creekside Golf Course on Tuesday, April 24. Senior Ashley Zhu has won three out of the last four GVC tournaments this season to lead the Saxons.

In addition to earning the Salem Breakfast Club athlete of the week, Zhu was selected as a finalist for the Statesman Journal Scholar Athlete Award which will be presented on June 4. The recipient of this award will receive a $5,000 scholarship.
“Ashley is playing really well right now, and she’s only going to get better before state is upon us, “ Coach Brian Eriksen said.
Zhu was medalist last week in the GVC tournament at Quail Valley golf course in Banks, where she shot a 37 to win by one stroke over Sprague Junior Quincy Beyrouty.
The Saxons are currently in sixth place in the team standings in the GVC.
