The Saxon Baseball season has officially come to an end, as the Saxons made their way to the OSAA State Semifinals before falling to number three Clackamas 2-3 in extra innings on May 29. The Saxons had a successful season that continued throughout the playoffs, displaying their impressive offense as they finished out the season with their record of 24-7.
The Saxons will graduate four seniors from the squad, which makes them hopeful for continued success next season. However, the Saxons will be losing catcher Aaron Zavala, who is committed to play baseball for the University of Oregon in the spring. Zavala has been a major contributor to the Saxons this season not only as a consistent catcher, but also pitching for part of the season, while contributing on the offensive end as well. The Saxons also had 7 players receive Greater Valley Conference honors, and Zavala was Player of the Year for the GVC.
Overall, though the season ended in a tough loss, the Saxons had an impressive season and look forward to the future success in the program and with the graduates as they leave South.
