After a blow out game, the South Salem Saxons lost in Friday nights game against the Sunset Apollos with a score of 36-3 making the Saxons record change to 1-1 on the season and the Apollos record to 1-1 on the season as well. This loss for the Saxons had them coming close to being the first team to go 2-0 since the 2015 where the team finished the season winning the GVC after going undefeated in league play with a league record of 9-0 and an overall record 10-1.
“Our defense is doing their part but I think offensively we can improve on being more consistent and we need to continue to work on the little things,” said quarterback Elijah Enomoto-Haole ‘19, “If we do those things then we are capable of lighting up the scoreboard.”
After this week’s game, the Saxons start a three game homestand where they face the McMinnville Grizzlies on Sep. 14, the Sprague Olympians on Sep. 21, and the Bend Lava Bears on Sep. 28.
