Last night, Dec. 6, Blast Off Vintage held the first concert of their new High Street location featuring the Salem band Speed Pigs, the Seattle hardcore punk band Zeke, and Canadian hardcore punk band D.O.A.
Blast Off’s new location, which had its grand re-opening on Nov. 3, features a basement that was used as a concert venue for the show. While the number of tickets was limited due to fire codes, a sizable mosh pit formed. Previously, many of Blast Off’s concert series had been held in Shotskis, one of Salem’s local Pizzerias.
As Blast Off did not serve alcohol, or permit alcohol from patrons or neighboring restaurant Half Time Bar & Grill on the premises, the concert is one of the few music venues in Salem that does not require minors to leave the building by a certain time. In accordance with the Oregon Liquor License Commision, minors are required to be removed from buildings and restaurants serving alcohol between 9 and 10 p.m.
While Blast Off does not currently have anymore shows scheduled, future information about concerts will be available on their Facebook.
