The Saxons basketball teams have a double header tonight where they will take on the Bend Lava Bears in their fifth league match up of the season. Both the girls and the boys teams are both looking to continue their dominance in league play with the boys having a 4-0 league record and the girls having a 3-1 league record with their only loss coming from the 47-54 loss to West Salem last game.
The boys team for the Lava Bears is currently sitting at a 26 ranking according to OSAA with their 8-6 overall record and 2-2 league record. Their last game was against the Mountain View Cougars where they lost with the score being 52-61. The Saxons have been hot so far in league play with a 4-0 league record along with an 11-3 overall record. This record is backed up with their current OSAA rank at 2 behind the Lake Oswego Lakers. Tonight’s game will start at 5pm at South where the Saxons hope to continue their league play perfection with a win.
The Lady Saxons have a current record of 9-5 and a 3-1 record in league play so far this season. Their current OSAA rank of 23 doesn’t represent the teams close finishes in all of those losses. The Lady Lava Bears are having a similar season, sitting at an even record of 7-7 with a 3-1 record in league play as well. The Lady Saxons in their game tonight at 6:30pm are hoping to bring back their status as the best team in the Mountain Valley Conference.
