The Saxons are set to host West Linn in the Quarterfinals of the OSAA Baseball State Playoffs at 5:00 p.m. today, May 24.
West Linn came into the tournament with the fifth seed in state, with a 19-9 record over the course of the season and advanced to the Quarterfinals after a 1-0 win at home against Bend.
The road to the Quarterfinals has been an exciting one for the Saxons, going into extra innings in the second round against their league rival West Salem. After two come-from-behind efforts, the Saxons emerged victorious in the ninth inning.
In his first start back from a hip injury, Noah Ferguson ‘19 got the start on the mound for the Saxons. After holding the West Salem offense to 5 runs after 6.1 innings and racking up seven strikeouts, the Saxons brought in Oregon State Baseball Commit Ryan Brown (19) in relief. Making quick work of the Titans, Brown struck out 3 batters in 2.2 innings, surrendering no runs. Opening the door for Kaiden Doten (19) to smash a walk-off grand slam, sending the Saxons to the Quarterfinals.
