Pumpkin patches are the ideal place to be during Fall. Children and adults alike can enjoy the fun of a pumpkin patch.
A good pumpkin patch has a variety of pumpkins and other attractions such as a corn maze or food stand. There are a number of pumpkin patches near Salem, one of the most popular being Bauman Farms, in Gervais, Oregon. Bauman Farms offers apple cider, a complex corn maze, and many other attractions in addition to their pumpkin patch. Bauman Farms also has delicious apple cider doughnuts.
“We want the experience to feel authentic, we want them to feel like they are a part of the farm and the farm’s operation,” said farm manager Rick Bauman in a 2018 interview with Capital Press.
Vince Wood Farms, located in Northeast Salem, is a more traditional, simple pumpkin patch. The pumpkin patch is U-Pick meaning that the purchaser will have to pick their pumpkin. Vince Woods also has a small haunted house that they keep kid-friendly so even young kids can enjoy a haunted house.
Fordyce Farm, in Northeast Salem, sells many baked goods such as pies, scones, and cookies. They are family-run and have been around since 1964.
When one has a free weekend, a pumpkin patch is an excellent choice.
