November is Carcinoid Cancer Awareness Month, Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and Stomach Cancer Awareness Month. Students can wear a ribbon or clothing with the colors that represent these cancers to help increase awareness. Carcinoid cancer is represented by black and white zebra stripes, lung cancer is represented by pearl or white, pancreatic cancer is represented by purple and stomach cancer is represented by periwinkle blue. November is also National Family Caregivers Month which is to honor the people who care for those suffering from cancer. This is also represented by the color purple. Some more ways to participate is to encourage those at risk for these cancers or those that are concerned to talk to their doctors and to get screened for cancer. There are many small ways to contribute that can help increase awareness and improve recovery rates.
