Salem-Keizer Public Schools have announced that students, kindergarten through 12th grade, will be able to rent Chromebooks for free, until the end of the school closure due to COVID-19. These Chromebooks will be made available so that students can access Salem-Keizer School District’s [SKSD] supplemental materials from home.
Wifi hot spots will not accompany the Chromebooks at this time. However, SKSD has announced that they are attempting to obtain a “limited amount” of these hotspots. In the meantime, students can pick up hard copies of the supplemental learning materials from all of the 35 meal locations in the SKSD. These can be picked up beginning the week of March 30, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on weekdays.
Chromebooks are not available in the same locations as the supplemental learning materials. They can be picked up from any of SKSD’s six traditional high schools: South, West, North, Sprague, McKay and McNary.
