Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday, May 10. Even stuck in quarantine, there are still ways to celebrate while still social distancing.
For a lot of people, their usual Mother’s Day plans will have to change this year.
“For Mother’s Day my family always goes down to Grants Pass which is where my grandma and aunts live and hang out for the day,” Aysha Miller ‘22 said.
Most people will end up staying home this year when celebrating to practice social distancing. However, some people’s plans will not have to change.
“For Mother’s Day, we usually celebrate by making my mom dinner and giving her presents. However, we focus most of the day around telling her how much we care for her,” Camille Sewell ‘21 said.
There are lots of things to do at home to celebrate this year while quarantined. Video call instead of spending time with people in person. Instead of going to the store and buying presents, making homemade cards, making breakfast or dinner, baking something special or doing extra chores around the house can be just as meaningful. Another option is to find fun activities to do as a family like board games, or a movie night.
