Following their 36-28 loss to West Salem last Friday, South Salem’s football team now finds themselves with a 2-1 record as they look ahead towards their in-conference match up against Mountain View this Friday. Prior to their loss, South was undefeated, dishing out losses to both Jefferson and Lebanon.
The South Salem roster is currently on the younger side, fielding just 14 seniors and 15 players with true varsity experience. Despite this, the season thus far has been encouraging as it is the first time since 2016 that they’ve started the year 2-1. The next 3 weeks consist of tough, in-conference matchups against Mountain View, Summit, and McNary all of which have winning records. Mountain View will be a test but South has a real shot at a win with the home crowd behind them. A win this Friday would solidify South as a contender to win the Mountain Valley Conference and mark a turning point in the future of South’s football program.
