Following their four performances over the weekend, Saxon Drama wrapped production on All Together Now. The musical marked the first performance held in South’s new Rose Auditorium. Comprised of songs from iconic musicals, the production was part of an international movement put together by Music Theatre International (MTI) to revive and fundraise for local theaters by providing them with rights to the musical for free on the weekend of November 12.
All Together Now consisted of 15 song slots in which theaters could choose from 2-3 songs each. South’s theater department chose songs from Les Misérables, Disney’s High School Musical, Rent, and Hairspray among others. The production also included videos of performers and creatives involved in theater giving testimony on the importance of the art form.
“Theater is an important part of our culture of humans as a whole.” said cast member Mikori Sheridan ‘22. “It’s where the people who aren’t usually applauded get to shine and build a community of like-minded, accepting individuals and that’s why I love it so much.”
2,500 theaters across the globe participated in the All Together Now movement, with performances in all 50 states and more than 40 countries.
