South Salem High School Introduces Its First Ever Sparrow Child

There was an assembly last Tuesday, November 22nd where Sparrow Club announced their first involvement with South Salem High School. Sparrow Club is an organization that partners a child with a life-affecting illness or condition with a school. Students do community service and local businesses sponsor the community service.

For SSHS, they presented Connor M, a first-grader at McKinley Elementary School (who would be a future South student), who was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer. For every hour of community service recorded, $10 is given to Connors family by local businesses to help with Connor’s medical journey. This caps at 300 hours, or $3000. To participate, all that is required is that community service hours are recorded on the online form.
