Around fifteen freshmen are going to be joining the Clypian starting the second semester. Each of them has taken the Scholastic Journalism class to enter News production. The Clypian offers a multitude of positions you can take on and try out, including reporting, radio, podcasting, social media and photography.
When asked why he wanted to join News Production, Kevin Marberry 26’, said,
“Well actually, originally I didn’t want to join, but then we watched that one movie with the actor for Anakin Skywalker in class, and I thought it was pretty cool.”
Shattered Glass, the movie Kevin previously mentioned, gives you an insight into what reporting and writing stories is like in real news settings, along with the amount of work and effort that goes into each story. Setting up interviews, gathering notes and editing each piece created are just some of things the Clypian staff do.
During Future Freshman night, some of The Clypian staff was in the classroom explaining what they do, and that is how Reagan found them. Reagan Day 26’, said,
“I wanted to do journalism, so I went to the orientation here and I saw this class and I instantly wanted to take it”
Another new freshman joining the Clypian staff next semester is Miette Hanowell, 26’. Her aspirations to join the News Production class came from her sister, who had been in the Tv Production class. Miette said that a main reason she wanted to join the class was because,
“I’m interested in becoming a better writer and exploring different media outlets and careers.”
