South is prepared to highlight its excellent student athletes in a range of sports as the academic year progresses. Students have a variety of opportunities, including golf, softball, baseball and track to participate in and represent their school in a sport they enjoy.
The baseball team is gearing up for an impressive season, with head coach Jessie Price at the helm.
“[I am looking for ] guys who want to be leaders, who are coachable. Who worked really hard, who don’t make excuses, who wanted to find a way to win anyway.” said Price.
When asked about his goals for the upcoming season, Price said, “daily growth over and over again. I don’t think we set necessarily like a win goal or a championship goal or anything like that.
“I would just say kind of having a goal of becoming better people working hard to be better players and then whatever happens from there kind of happens.”
The track team is also preparing for an exciting season. The season consists of multiple meets with many talented athletes who are determined to improve their times and distances. Led by head coach Dwight Roberson, the team is excited to see what they can accomplish this year.
The golf group is prepared to get started with the guidance of head coach Tom Johnson. This year’s team has a good mix of experience and new talent, and they are looking forward to seeing how they perform in competition.
