A Look Back on Women’s History Month: Taya Woodall

Taya Woodall is a South Salem High School social studies teacher and Crystal Apple nominee. She attended Chemeketa Community College, University of Oregon and Grand Canyon University.

“No, actually, I wanted to be a nurse when I graduated until I started my undergrad at UO. When I started college I went to Chemeketa, I went to the University of Oregon and got my Bachelors degree there, then I went to Grand Canyon University and got my masters in teaching.” Woodall said when asked if she always wanted to be a teacher.

Woodall has a lot of favorite memories, one of them being her students’ graduation ceremonies. “Probably sneaking on the roof to watch the graduation ceremony, seeing it from a different point of view,” She said when asked what her favorite part of watching graduation ceremonies was.

As the end of the year comes around the corner, she is excited to see the students at South start their new chapter in life. She is also looking forward to the summer sun and spending time outside.

“I am looking forward to students seeing the end of the year and their paths.” Woodall said.

Besides teaching, Woodall is quite into gardening and it is something she thoroughly enjoys. She hopes to take care of her plants and help them stay alive during the heat of the summer.

“I am really into gardening right now and trying to keep my garden plants alive, most of them are dead at the moment.” Woodall said.
