It’s that time of the year, Color Clash, a week full of events that take place next week which includes the annual color clash assembly, boys volleyball game, girls powderpuff, and upperclassmen versus staff basketball game.
The week will be starting with an assembly where each grade level will be competing in challenges and games, volleyball game, then staff vs seniors basketball game, and finally the girls powderpuff will bring it all home.
This school wide week of events will start on May 30 with the annual Color Clash assembly. Then on June 1, the staff vs seniors basketball game will take place, and on the last day June 2 we’ll be ending with the boys volleyball at 4pm and Girls Powderpuff at 5:30 pm.
Kathy August is our activities director, and senior teacher here at south. She has been teaching at South for over twenty years. She was the one who started the Color clash event.
“Over the years, Color Clash has been a hit.” August said.
Every year the different grade levels are able to wear their designated colors; red for seniors, blue for juniors, yellow for sophomores, green for freshmen, and black for staff.
Classes will be tested on different levels of spirit, amount of their colored attire, and successes in the different activities. Although this is the main part of the week, there’s more.
“I brought it here because we had always done it in California, and so when I became activities director, which was like 2006, that’s when we brought it to South,” August said.
On Thursday Night at 7:30pm, the senior vs staff volleyball game will take place. All students are welcome to come and cheer on our players. Come in school spirited clothes and loud voices.
Finally, to finish the week up we have boy volleyball at 4 pm and girls powderpuff at 5:30pm.
“The point of all of this is to just celebrate the year, you work so hard, so ending on a good note is important.” August said.
“Get the word out,” August said.
