A Beast in the Classroom and on the Court
South Salem High School senior, Sadie Patterson, has contributed to her school and her sports in many ways. Not only was she a varsity basketball starter, she also stood atop the varsity tennis ladder in the 2022-2023 season. As for extracurriculars, she is involved in leadership, culinary leadership and the ASB student council. Patterson is ASB Spirit Chair, having the role of getting as many students involved in the ASB sanctioned events as she can.
“After graduation, I am planning to get my degree in Computational Molecular Biology. I also want to pursue a masters degree and get my doctorate,” Patterson said.
Patterson finds excitement in the future and for what it holds. In particular, most of her excitement sources from her upcoming sporting endeavors.
Varsity Classic: Sadie Patterson
“I am ecstatic about the season ahead! It’s senior season baby! This is my last year and I’m going all out for it. No days off and working on and off the court. With basketball, I believe that we are huge contenders to be league champs and go far in the playoffs. I can’t wait for my final seasons ahead!” Patterson said.
She has played both basketball and tennis for years, inspired by different people in her life. She has found a love within the sports and commits heavily to being the best that she can.
Patterson has had a successful tennis career, selected as Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Girls Tennis Athlete of the Week in the 2023 season.
“My favorite parts are definitely ‘Friday Night Lights’ and getting to play the sports I love. This past year I had the awesome opportunity of being one of the first to play on a high school girls flag football team. I hope to continue this year as well!” Patterson said.
The Makings of a Kind Community: Sadie’s Version
Patterson has a tradition of making baked goods to hand out to teachers on Fridays, something many of them look forward to. Loving to lift spirits and to encourage a positive community, Patterson does all she can to leave South a wholesome school.
“I hope that the loving community South has, continues to grow. South Salem is a great school to be at and I hope that the future graduates will say the same by their senior year.” Patterson said.
