South Salem High School participated in a Purple Out day on Wednesday, March 20, to show their support for ending gun violence. The Associated Student Body (ASB) leadership ran the event and handed out orange ribbons to help show support.

South hosted Purple Out to support the student who passed in the midst of gun violence. Students also wore orange ribbons to show their support against gun violence. Gun violence exposes at least 3 million students to it every year, and kills or wounds approximately 19,000 teens. Homicides take up about 62% of firearm-related deaths..

A student can help stop gun violence by reporting threats and concerns to a trusted adult or to www.safeoregon.com.
