Winter Festivities Guide: Where to Get in the Spirit

With Christmas coming up, families and friends in Salem Oregon are looking for activities to do for the holidays.  

Christmas Walk Through

Riverfront Park has now set up its Christmas light walk-through. They will have light displays set all over the park making it the perfect place to take family or friends pictures for the holiday. 

Zoo Lights

Starting November 22, 2024, the Oregon Zoolights will be open. According to ZooLights Oregon Zoo, they will have a new meadow light show as well as a lot of life-size animal lanterns along the train route and many more interactive displays. 

Families and friends will be able to walk through the tunnels of sparkling lights and take photos with their group next to the colorful animals. When walking through the lights people will be able to get food and beverages. Some of those are Elephant ears, s’mores, popcorn and many more. 

Keizer Lights 

On December 6th the Keizer lights will begin. It will be located on the Corner of Lockhaven and 14th Ave Gubser Neighborhood. Keizer, Oregon. According to Keizer Miracle of Lights Display, this tradition has lasted for 30 years, families can drive through the neighborhood looking at all of the lights. Friends and families will be able to create more memories and help families by donating canned food to the Marion Polk Food Share.

Salem Holiday Village 

Starting November 22 to December 22 the Salem Holiday Village will be held at the fairgrounds. According to  Holiday Village and Magic of Lights, it is free admission but people will need to pay $5 for parking or get in free if people tour the lights. There will be food and drinks and DJ Danny Dwyer or Jake Byron will be DJ every Saturday at 7:30 pm and ends by 10:00 pm. There will also be 8 carnival rides. 

The price to participate in rides is $5 but if families would like to do more than one they can pay $20 for five rides. If families would like to take photos they can go visit the village on the weekend and visit their petting station to see the miniature horses as well as take photos with them.
