The South Salem girls basketball team secured the league title Tuesday night with a hard-fought 46-42 victory over West Salem. The win locked in the championship regardless of their final regular-season game against McNary this Friday.
Now ranked #16 in the state with a 17-7 record, the Saxons are set for a postseason run, with playoffs beginning March 4 and rankings freezing at 10 p.m. on February 28.
West Salem kept the game tight, but South Salem’s defense held strong in the closing moments, sealing the victory and the league crown. With momentum on their side, the Saxons now turn their focus to a deep playoff push.
