Stephanie Romeo ‘25 has been the photography editor for two years and is now graduating from South Salem High School. She will be attending Western Oregon University and will be majoring in elementary education, and is hoping to minor in special education.
I choose Elementary education because I love working with little kids. I work with little kids at my job, and I also volunteer at my church’s Sunday school activities. But I want to minor in Special Education (SPED) to become a special education teacher for the elementary level. The person who sparked my interest the most would be Mr. Young, the Development Learning Center (DLC) teacher at South. I feel that just being with the DLC class all the time helped inspire me. Being in Unified for 4 years and being a TA for 2 years. My end goal as an elementary SPED teacher would be to make a positive impact on their lives. I want to be someone that they look up to and can come to if they need help with anything,

Romeo joined the clypian because of the people and to pursue her interest in photography. In the two years of being a part of the clypian, Romeo has built connections with the other members of the team, making this her favorite part about being in the clypian. When it comes to preparing to take photos, Romeo always makes sure to have all the materials she needs.
“I always make sure I have everything I need, like making sure the camera is fully charged, having extra batteries that are charged and making sure I have enough room in the SD card,” Romeo said.
Romeo’s favorite part of being a photographer is being able to go to games as well as helping others. To any future photography editors, Romeo suggests staying on top of work.
“I think going to classes is beneficial, especially with the amount of work you may have. It can be hard to get that work done outside of class and school. So, going to class and using that time to work on whatever can help,” Romeo said.
