Every October, the Oregon School for the Deaf, (OSD,) hosts one of the biggest haunted houses in Oregon, the Nightmare Factory. This year, the haunted house will be open every Friday and Saturday starting October 10, including the Thursday before Halloween. Tickets cost $20 at the door or $22.40 online for general admission, or for the fast pass, $30 at the door or $33.60 online.Â
The haunted house experience lasts about 30 minutes, making it the longest in Oregon. Established in 1987, the Nightmare Factory has provided Oregon with over 30 years of horror-packed fun. While there is no age recommendation, this attraction is known for jump scares and intense themes.
While enjoying a good scare is part of this experience, it is also about supporting a good cause for the OSD. They use the money from the fundraiser to buy clothes for students, new computers and other school equipment. As well as providing students with hands-on experience with new programs. Over the years, it has become a Halloween tradition for many around the state.
