What does “Clypian” mean?
A vote between “Clypian”, “Saxon Scoop”, and “Columbian” was held for deciding the name for our school’s newspaper. Through popular vote, “Clypian” won as it is the Anglo-Saxon word for “call” or “cry out”.

Where can I find a copy of the Clypian?
The staff distributes copies to teachers who can hand them out to students. The Clypian can also be found in brown stands or shelves around south. These shelves are found around places like the library, for example.

When did it all start?
The Clypian was established at South Salem High School in September 13, 1954, the same year the school opened.
