South has always had many foreign exchange students throughout the years. This year there are nine of them, all from different parts of the world.
Felix Von Rhein, from Germany is one of these students. “America is nice,” Von Rhein. said. “In Germany, you have a different schedule every day.”
In order to become an exchange student, you must find a host family to reside with for the duration of your time in the other country.
Exchange students are exposed to a very different culture than in their home country.
“A big difference is that people are much less excited about school events than in America.
Berta Arrive Carbonell, another exchange student from Spain likes it here in America.
“I like America,” said Arrive Carbonell. “The school is very big compared to my school in Spain, and it has a lot of activities and sports.”
South Salem High School often has a number of exchange students from all over the globe, adding to our rich cultural diversity.
Many of the exchange students find South Salem High School very pleasant, and it is a unique experience that they can reflect upon for the rest of their lives.
