A gaggle of light up inflatable pumpkins greets every child and parent after they walk through South’s front doors and meet Saxon Man.
One of the themed doorways in the junior hall was Batman, with a fake jail door with glittery bars, a wall of hanging superhero masks, and a night view of Gotham City. Later on, students were there passing out candy dressed as Harley Quinn, Bruce Banner, and Poison Ivy.
A few doors down from the Batman theme was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Four students dressed as the infamous quartet, including seniors Carlee Cox and Allison Lonsdale, under a doorway where superhero masks dangled like streamers.
At the end of Senior hall was the set of Jurassic Park. One of the larger themed “doors,” decorated with an inflatable Triceratops, paper mache vines, and a hidden speaker playing the Jurassic Park theme, several students were dressed as tour guides, scientists, and two were even dressed in inflatable Velociraptor costumes.
Right around the corner from Jurassic Park was the Disney prince/princess theme. Almost all the Disney princesses were represented in floor length silk gowns, including Merida, Pocahontas, Belle, and Snow White, among others. A Cinderella doorway was also near this one, which included a pair of students dressed as Cinderella and Prince Charming.
Near the gyms, and across from the Tooth Fairy doorway, was a large wall mural painted to look like a starry city skyline, with famous buildings including the Eiffel Tower and the Space Needle with the moon projected behind them. Twinkle lights hung from the ceiling as shiny streamers were arranged on the ground, put there by students pulling party poppers.
Opposite the gym doors, at the very end of the hall, was a USA Olympic theme. Several members of the freshman volleyball team were there dressed in their sports gear, as well as one student dressed in a red and white robe alongside another girl wrapped in an American flag.
