The 2017 Crystal Apple Awards were held at the Elsinore Theater on Nov. 2, celebrating the hard work of educators from all over the district. Among the nominees were South’s Bess Waxenfelter, Vivian Bartone, and JoyAnna Forsythe. At the end of the night, many teachers took home Crystal Apple Awards, but also the pride of their schools. Forsythe was no exception. The freshman English and LINK program teacher, Forsythe was awarded a Crystal Apple for her skills as an educator. Forsythe was nominated by fellow teacher and friend, Kimberly Miller. Her work in recruiting LINK Leaders was noted in her nomination form, as a student had raved about how included she had made her feel when she had been recruited for LINK.
