17 Lives Lost In Florida School Shooting

February, 14th 2018 a tragedy has struck Parkland, Florida. Recently expelled student Nikoals Cruz opened fire on his school Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Seventeen lives were lost during the shooting that started shortly before 3 pm.
Cruz a nineteen year old man was heavily armed and fled the scene before police apprehended him a couple miles from the school. Police are currently investigating Cruz’s digital footprint. Broward County Sheriff Israel said to the press that his social media content was; “very, very disturbing.”
With news spreading fast President Trump tweeted this, “…No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.”
The loss of seventeen lives has brought the community of Parkland together under sad circumstances. A local Marriot Hotel was a reunion place for students and their parents this fateful afternoon.
Robert W. Runcie, the Broward schools superintendent told the New York Times this following the incident, “words cannot express the sorrow that we feel. No parent should ever have to send their kid to school and have them not return.”
With the rise of mass shootings the U.S awaits for new gun safety and regulations to be passed by the White House. Our condolences go out to family and friends of the victims lost this fateful Valentines day.
