Saxon Football falls to West Salem 25-0

South Salem faced off against the West Salem Titans on Friday. Despite the main Titan play-maker unable to play, the Titans defence shutout the Saxons 25-0. The Saxons struggled due to multiple injuries particularly on the offensive side of the football. In addition, the Saxons only two scoring opportunities were quickly derailed due to two poor snaps on field goal attempts.

“Missed opportunities really hurt us, especially late in the game,” offensive and defensive lineman Adrian Montiel-Gomez ‘21 said

Saxon wide receiver Zach Case ‘21 recorded two catches for 65 yards and Zach Webster ‘20 racked up 28 yards on five receptions. Although struggling on offense, the Saxon defense had two takeaways. Linebacker Josh Raynak ‘19 got an interception and defensive end Diego Fuimaono ‘19 recovered a fumble. The Saxons hope to bounce back from this deficit and perform well in their next game.

The Saxons will travel to Oregon City, facing off against the 13 ranked Pioneers with a 2-4 record, in their next matchup on Friday at 7pm.
