The beginning of the cold weather comes with the start of winter sports, including boys and girls basketball, swimming and wrestling.
Girls varsity basketball kicked off their season with a jamboree on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Sunset High School. They played Beaverton and Sunset. The girls will travel to South Eugene High School for their first game on Friday, Dec. 6. The game begins at 6:45 p.m.
The boys varsity basketball team also played in a jamboree on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Beaverton High School. They played Beaverton and Sunset. Their first game of the season will be at South, on Friday, Dec. 6. They will be playing Tualatin and the game begins at 6:30 p.m.
The swim team will have their first meet on Thursday, Dec. 5. The meet will be held at the Kroc Center. South will swim against McKay, McNary, Sprague and West.
The wrestling teams had their first varsity duels on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in which they competed against North Salem. Their next meet will be on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Cascade High School.
